Beauty tips for fall from Sara
Now that fall is approaching I like to change up my beauty routines after summer and make sure to implement rituals into my routine that will support my overall health in the upcoming months. My skin is usually that gets affected most by the cold weather so I make sure to treat it with care and the right products in order to keep it smooth and healthy.
Here are some of my beauty tips for fall:
Dry brush
Dry brushing is something I started a while ago and I am completely hooked on the feeling and the results it gives. But what is dry brushing and why is it good for us? Dry brushing is a body massage with a brush that helps stimulate lymphatic drainage, increases circulation, and gives the skin a firm and glowy appearance. For the best results, you should dry the brush before you take a shower - with your skin and the brush dry. Apply slight firm pressure and work in circular motions. Always brush towards your heart starting at your ankles. Remember that hydration is key after your dry brush so apply your favorite body oil or moisturizer after the shower.
2. Gua sha
Once you start using Gua sha it is hard to stop. The benefits of using Gua sha are for example that it helps relieve tension in the face and reduces inflammation and puffiness. It firms and lifts the skin and smoothes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It also brightens complexion by increasing blood flow and circulation. The good thing about Gua sha is also that you can actually see visual results after just one time. For me, it is such a nice and calming moment where I treat myself for a few minutes. Before using Gua sha make sure to apply your favorite facial oil or moisturizer. I always use facial oil because I feel like it is easier to massage the face that way. Make sure not to put a lot of pressure on the face and always move away from the center of the face and outwards 4-5 times.
3. Skin products
For me, it is essential to take good care of my skin. First and foremost our skin is affected by our surroundings and our diet so making sure to eat a healthy diet, stay hydrated and limit toxins in our daily life is important. But, our skincare routine plays a big role as well, and choosing products that are clean and has few ingredients is key for me. My number one rule is always going to bed with clean and moisturized skin and cleaning my skin before heading into the day. I use good serum and hydrating facial creams and oils, especially at this time of the year when it starts to get colder.
4. Scalp massage
This is something that I have recently started doing and wanted to explore before entering fall. My hair tends to get dry in the winter and I hope that by effectively massaging the scalp both with my hands and also by using a scalp massager. It will help increase circulation, release tension, and helps keep the scalp healthy. The pros of scalp massage are that it is extremely calming and leaves you feeling so relaxed afterward.
5. Vitamins
Now that it is getting colder and soon darker up in the North, I always make sure that my vitamin intake will support my health in the upcoming months. I increase my D-vitamin intake and make sure to have my b12 supplements. Since we are all different on different diets, our vitamin supplements needs vary so it is important that you follow your own needs. If you are unsure and you think you might be deficient in certain minerals or vitamins I highly recommend that you book yourself a blood test so you can support your overall health even better.
Make time for self-care
I want to encourage you to find time to treat yourself, it does not have to take long, but you give yourself a few minutes a day where you prioritize your body and your health. This is not only going to benefit your looks but also your mental health because making space for self-care calms your mind, improves your connection with yourself, and grounds you. Pick your favorite beauty fall routines and add them to your day and see how it makes you feel.
