Reducing holiday stress

This time of the year can feel hectic and sometimes stressful. We are only a few days away from the holidays and our to-do list is getting filled up with things that need to be done before Christmas. Alongside that our stress can increase.

I want to remind you that this time of the year is beautiful and there is a lot we can do to minimize the stress and be more in control of those feelings.

Manage the expectations you put on yourself

First of all try to be kind and loving towards yourself and to manage your stress level with mindful activities such as movements, meditation, breathwork, or walks. There is no need to stress, you are in control and you’ve got this. Just take one day at a time and really be mindful of how you manage each day.

You are doing your best

Ask yourself how you will navigate the feeling of stress, and what you can do to avoid letting them affect your energy. Shift your mindset and do your best to respond to the stress knowing that you are doing your best, and that is literally the only thing you can do.

Take back your power

Take deep breaths. Whenever you feel overwhelmed, close your eyes and stop for a moment. Take a long deep breath and hold it for a few seconds and then slowly breathe out again. That way you bring your focus back and will feel more at ease in whatever situation you are in. Learn to take your power back and to be in control of your situation.

Take it easy. Remember that we don’t have to have everything perfect. There is no reason to compare ourselves to others. Do it your way, where you are in full control, and let that be enough.

After giving birth to my two beautiful daughters, I have had to build up my body twice after my pregnancies. With my experience, I have created a workout that is a great combination of low impact, functional movement, pilates, barre, and yoga. It builds up deep core strength, creates sustainable and lasting change, relieves physical tension and mental stress, and gives you an overall healthier and happier body.
