About journaling
We have so many thoughts going around in our heads every day and we often keep a lot of information, feelings, experiences, beliefs, and thoughts inside of us. In order to get clarity and release, it is really beneficial to sometimes write and just transmit what’s inside of us onto a piece of paper. Many of us probably have a calendar and to-do list so we don’t have to remember and store all the information that we need around our everyday life and tasks. However, releasing feelings and other thoughts as well from inside really helps us to get clarity and perspective on those things as well. Therefore, creating a habit of journaling, simply writing down your thoughts, feelings, and reflections, can help you to feel less stressed and more in charge of your life.
What do you write?
Sometimes, it is nice to just write down whatever that comes to your mind. If it feels difficult to start, just begin by writing down how you are feeling, and then you will probably be able to continue to let the pen flow on the paper. Don’t stress about correct sentences and grammar – just get what’s inside of you down on the paper.
Following some guided journaling and answering questions to reflect on is also a great way to establish this as a practice and get a lot out of it. You can also answer questions like;
Who am I?
What do I need?
What do I want?
and just notice what happens inside of you, both in your mind and body, when you answer.
How to start?
A tip is to carry a little notebook and pen in your bag. Even though we always have our phones, it’s really nice to be able to write things down on a piece of paper.
If you are curious to try, start with a few minutes or a few questions each day for a while and see how it feels and reflect on; What does this practice do for you? Does it resonate with you? Is it something you want to continue to do?
Good luck with your journaling and let us know how it goes!
