5 tips for fall
It is October and fall has arrived. When the seasons change it is important to allow the body to adjust. What I have noticed happens to me in the fall is that my skin becomes dry and my body is stiffer than usual. Since living up in the North it is likely due to the sudden drop in the temperature and therefore I always make sure to take good care of the body at this time. Here are a few tips that hopefully will come to good use:
Take care of your skin
Now that the weather is getting colder it is important to treat the skin well. I love to add clean oil into my skin routine at this time of the year to give it extra hydration. It feels good to massage the oil into the skin or use Gua sha for an extra treatment a few times a week before bed. Also, a clean moisturizer for the body after a shower or before bedtime will really make a difference for you.
Move your body
Due to the temperature change, the body tends to get stiffer. Therefore it is important to continue moving whether it is a stretching class in the evening or morning yoga. Move, breathe and keep your body healthy into the winter.
Drink a lot of water
We need water all year round but at this time of year where a proper routine has hit us, we tend to forget to drink enough water. Make sure to keep a bottle at your table as a reminder.
Eat fatty foods.
Add healthy fats into your diet such as olive oil, avocado, clean butter, fish, and nuts. When it gets colder the body sometimes starts to crave fatty food more than in the summer. Listen to your body and let it tell you what it needs.
Light candles and bring out your blankets.
Welcome the fall with candles and blankets. It is such a cozy time and make the most of it. Make warm tea in the evening and read your favourite book.
